The Monadnock Center for Violence Prevention, Inc. (formerly Women's
Crisis Services) offers support groups on an ongoing basis for women whose lives
have been affected by domestic or sexual violence. Currently we are
offering the following groups:
- Domestic Violence Support Group: Groups meet weekly in
Keene Discussions include:
--What domestic violence is
and how to ask you. --The different forms of abuse (physical,
emotional, verbal, economic...). --Ways to cope with
abuse. --Safety planning. --Healing and moving past
abuse. --Available resources and how to use them.
- Domestic Violence and it's Effects on Children Educational
Group: This group meets once a week for four weeks. Topics
include:
--What domestic violence is and how it affects you. --How
domestic violence affects children. --Safety planning. --Talking
with schools. --Available resources and how to use them.
- Sexual Assault Support Group: This group meets once a week to
discuss:
--What sexual violence, assault, and abuse is, and how it
affects you. -- Ways to cope with abuse. --Healing from sexual
violence, assault, or abuse. --Available resources and how to use
them.
- Support Group at Cheshire County House of Corrections: This
group is designed for female inmates who are the victims of domestic
violence or sexual assault. The topics discussed include:
-- What
domestic and sexual violence is, and how it affects you. -- Ways to
cope with abuse. -- Issues surrounding taking responsibility for your
own actions despite abuse. -- How to avoid poor
decision-making. -- How to improve self-confidence. -- Finding
motivation to change.

All MCVP's support
groups are here to listen, help you explore your options, and provide
support. Support group is confidential and held in a non-judgmental and
caring environment. In order to join any of our groups, you must first
meet with a staff member for an intake.
