The Monadnock Center for Violence Prevention, Inc. (formerly Women's
Crisis Services) offers advocacy with
courts, police, hospitals, and other social service providers. Staff and
Crisis Intervention Workers (CIWs) assist in the process of obtaining
restraining orders, including assisting with the filing of domestic
violence petitions, contacting appropriate police agencies, and
accompanying clients to their final order hearings, in order to provide
emotional support, answer questions about the process, and advocate for
the client when needed. MCVP advocates in Cheshire County Superior Court,
Keene District Court, Jaffrey/Peterborough District Court, and
Hillsborough District Court. Staff and CIWs also accompany clients to the
police to file criminal complaints; to the hospital for medical services;
and to welfare, legal, housing, or other appointments, as appropriate.
