Survivors Feedback

In 2002, the Women's Crisis Services of the Monadnock region had 18,187 advocacy contacts with over 1,896 victims of domestic and sexual violence and those concerned for them. Those contacts included but were not limited to crisis counseling, court advocacy, support groups, shelter, and advocacy with other social service providers. Following are some comments from those we were able to assist that year.

From a shelter family:
"To Whom it May Concern,
My children and I have suddenly found ourselves in a very involved and stressful situation.
Oftentimes, until one is actually in the middle of a crisis, one doesn't consider certain circumstances that may arise in life. It has, however, been a tremendouse relief to know that there are immediate avenues in which one can take, such as the Women's Crisis Center shelter, with such caring and loving support.
We have been made to feel welcome and our every need has been considered, with support alternatives all along the way. Our physical needs of food, and warmth have been met with ultimate satisfaction, down to even our toiletries and laundry supplies. There is even counseling available for any emotional need one might have to address. Everyone involved is caring and kind.
The daily weekday regimen of house/group meetings, as well as one-on-one therapy, is necessary for soundness to focus and for daily progress.
We are very grateful to everyone for all of their thoughtfulness, which goes far beyond what is necessary. We are truly impressed by the Keene area donations of food, books, and the donations of knitted afgans. We even feel very safe with all of the security features.
It is comforting to know that the State of New Hampshire is prepared in emergency situations. Our state has come through for us, as well as for others.
    Thank you all once again."

"Thank you so much for all the wonderful gifts for my children. Thanks to you, their Christmas will be merry. I really wouldn't have been so strong willed without the support you have given me in my time that was the scariest time I have ever faced in my lifetime. I'm glad you're there when I need you!"

Another woman wrote:
"Thank you for your help, support, and advice regarding the stalking order that I recently petitioned for and was granted. While I realize that my case was far less extreme than many that you must deal with, I appreciated the attention that you gave it, and the compassion that you showed me. I think that you do very admirable and necessary work, and you do a very good job at it. The women of the Monadnock Region, myself included, are very lucky to have access to the services that you provide."

A women in our shelter wrote:
"Thank you very much for all the gifts you gave at Christmas. All were very much appreciated. The clothing that keeps us warm, the toys that energize our creativity, and the candles and towels all helped us embrace the spirit of the holidays. In our journey of a year of adjustments, it is impossible to describe the joy and smiles these gifts brought to us. May God bless you in 2002."
