Need to Watch your footprints?

Your Internet browser keeps a record of the web sites you have visited.  It is easy to go back and see what sites the previous user has looked at.  This may be of concern to you if you’d like to keep the sites you are looking at confidential.  Below are directions about how to “clear your cache” or erase the sites you have visited from the history, depending on which browser you are using.  This information may not completely hide your tracks. Many browser types have features that display recently visited sites. If you are a victim of abuse and use the internet to seek information, the safest way to do so would be at your local library, a friend's house, or at work.

Be sure your surfing history remains confidential ...
You need to make sure that the "Use Inline Autocomplete" box is NOT checked. This function will complete a partial web address while typing a location in the address bar at the top of the browser.

If you are using Internet Explorer, this box can be found on the MS Internet Explorer Page by clicking on the "View" icon at the top, then "Internet Options", and then the "Advanced" tab. About halfway down there is a "Use Autocomplete" box that can be checked and unchecked by clicking on it.
