The Monadnock Center for Violence Prevention, Inc. (formerly Women's Crisis Services of the Monadnock Region) is a non-profit organization that seeks to assist victims of domestic and sexual violence through crisis intervention, peer support, court advocacy, safe housing, and referral to other services; and to reduce the incidence and impact of domestic and sexual violence by advocating for public policies and providing education, awareness, and prevention programs. We operate in the Monadnock Region of New Hampshire including outreach facilities in Keene and Jaffrey.

Women's Crisis Services is a non-profit organization that provides victims of domestic and sexual violence with a network of long and short term support, advocacy, and education so that they may become empowered, self-reliant individuals. All services are free and confidential.

Women's Crisis Services of the Monadnock Region, Inc. (WCS) was formed in 1978 to assist battered women in exploring options for living without violence. We began to assist survivors of sexual assault in 1982, and established a 24-hour crisis line later that same year.

In July of 1999, WCS opened the first battered women's shelter in the region. We provide victims of domestic violence and sexual assault with a network of short and long term support, advocacy, and education in order that they may become empowered to make their own choices and become more self-reliant individuals.

We work to increase personal and public awareness of the issues of domestic violence and sexual assault through outreach, education, and training. We are committed to mobilize public action toward elimination of domestic and sexual violence through legislative change at all levels of government.

WCS operates two full-time offices in Keene and Jaffrey, New Hampshire. We serve all of Cheshire County and 14 towns in western Hillsborough County. Our crisis hotline is answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, by staff and trained volunteer Crisis Intervention Workers (CIWs). We offer crisis intervention and peer counseling in person and over the phone to victims of domestic and sexual violence in order to provide emotional support, information about choices and options, assistance with problem solving, develop safety plans, and make appropriate referrals. Self-help support groups are held weekly in Keene and Jaffrey.
